To ensure that CPAPAuction is a safe marketplace, please use the following guidelines. These guidelines represent due diligence by CPAPAuction and increase, but do not ensure absolute security and privacy.

You should not give out your CPAPAuction password to anyone. We suggest using a strong password that has both letters, numbers, or symbols, as well as upper and lower case letters that is at least 6-8 characters in length. It is also a good idea to change your CPAPAuction password every 60 days.

CPAPAuction will never ask you for your password.

Please read the CPAPAuction Privacy Policy and User Agreement for more information about security.

We also strongly suggest you have the following three types of online protection software programs for your own general online safety and protection:
  • Anti-Virus Software

  • Internet Firewall

  • Spyware Protection

The United States Federal Trade Commission has a website that offers a lot of relevant information about using computers and the Internet safely. We encourage you to read their website to learn how to protect yourself online, in a general way. Please be aware that the following two links take you to information provided by another entity that is not CPAPAuction. Click the two links below for more information. Check Your CPAPAuction Account Occasionally
It is recommended that you check your CPAPAuction account from time to time for suspicious activity and verify that your information under My Account has not been tampered with. It is a good idea to do this not only with your CPAPAuction account but with all of your online accounts.

Reporting Suspicious Activity
If you believe your CPAPAuction account has been compromised or see anything out of the ordinary, please contact us immediately and take steps to secure your account quickly.

Take the following steps immediately to secure your account and your personal information if you believe it has been compromised:
  • Change your password on your personal email account associated with CPAPAuction.

  • Change your CPAPAuction password.

  • Verify your personal account information in the My Account area of CPAPAuction and correct any of the information if it has been changed.

  • Check for any active bids or listings that are unauthorized. You can find this information under the My Account area. If you find an unauthorized listing cancel it if possible.

  • Report any and all pertinent information to CPAPAuction.

The credit card information you have on file with CPAPAuction is not viewable through your CPAPAuction account and is encrypted for your protection. You may update your credit card information but you cannot see it. So, if your CPAPAuction account is compromised, the unauthorized user will not be able to steal your credit card number.

However, if you gave out your personal information such as credit card numbers to a spoof website or through a fake email, take these additional steps:
  • Contact at least one of the following credit bureaus to place a fraud alert on your credit reports. It is only necessary to contact one of them since they are required under federal law to alert the other agencies in such an event.

    And also
    • Contact your credit card company or bank to report the issue.

    • Contact the local police and file an identity theft report.

    • Contact the Federal Trade Commission and file an identity theft report. To contact them go to their website www.consumer.gov/idtheft or call their Fraud Hotline at 202-326-2502.
